About Us

Founded in 2023, Bicoastal Review is a quarterly journal of poetry, nonfiction, interviews, photography, and art. We are dedicated to fostering cross-genre conversations, often about—but not limited to—topics of the U.S. East Coast and West Coast.

We have published writers and artists from around the world, and we are passionate about supporting emerging poets, women, and writers of historically underrepresented backgrounds.

We celebrate political poetry and poetry of place. The writing we publish often addresses social issues such as environmental destruction, the impact of digital media, the nuances of immigrant histories, traumas of modern life, and the politicization of gender and sexuality. We have published poems of all kinds: sonnets, haikus, triolets, prose poems, found poems, elegies, and more. We also invite contributors to consider intertextuality and respond ekphrastically to our past publications.

Your Support
Means a Lot

Help us keep existing by making a donation—any amount helps.

Our journal will never be behind a paywall. We are committed to inclusivity and accessibility, offering audio recordings of as many poems as possible. We strive to represent a spectrum of American thought, publishing emerging voices as well as established poets. We encourage cross-genre work that fosters dialogue and community, and our staff works to create a great home for topical, intelligent poetry free from hate and bigotry. We are mindful of the legacy of small presses and literary magazines that came before us, and we engage regularly with other great, ongoing digital publications.

Our goals include becoming more multilingual; becoming able to print issues and broadsides; paying staff; publishing more reviews, essays, cultural criticism, and a wider range of cross-genre writing.

Your donation can help us continue to:

With your support, we can continue to work to publish excellent poetry, nonfiction, and art that values quality over quantity and uplifts writers whose works highlight the movements, ruptures, and allegiances happening simultaneously on opposite ends of the nation.
